Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about storing your memories with DownTheMemory.

What is DownTheMemory?

DownTheMemory is a secure cloud storage platform designed specifically for preserving your digital memories. We allow you to store, organize, and access photos, videos, and audio files from any device. Unlike general cloud storage services, we're focused on making it easy to preserve and relive your most precious moments.

How do I sign up for DownTheMemory?

Signing up is easy and takes less than a minute. Click the "Get Started Free" button, enter your name, email, and create a password. You'll instantly get 5GB of free storage to start storing your memories. No credit card required for the free plan.

What types of files can I store?

You can store photos (JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, SVG), videos (MP4, MOV, MKV), and audio files (MP3, WAV). Our platform is optimized for media files, making it perfect for preserving family photos, vacation videos, voice recordings, and more.

Is DownTheMemory free to use?

Yes! We offer a generous free plan with 5GB of storage that never expires. For users who need more space, we offer affordable paid plans starting at just $0.99/month for 10GB. All plans include SSL encryption and web access.

How is my data protected?

Security is our top priority. All data is encrypted in transit using SSL/TLS and stored securely on enterprise-grade infrastructure. We use BunnyCDN for reliable, fast storage with global redundancy. We never scan your files or sell your data to advertisers.

Can I access my files from different devices?

Absolutely! Access your memories from web browsers, Android phones, Samsung TVs, Android TVs, and even Alexa devices. All paid plans include multi-device access at no extra cost. Your memories follow you wherever you go.

What happens if I forget my password?

Click the "Forgot Password" link on the login page and enter your email address. We'll send you a secure password reset link that expires after a short time for security. Follow the instructions to create a new password.

How do I cancel my subscription?

You can cancel your subscription anytime from your account settings. Go to Settings → Subscription → Cancel Plan. Your access continues until the end of your current billing period, then your account automatically converts to the free 5GB plan.

Are there refunds for cancelled subscriptions?

We offer a 7-day money-back guarantee for new paid subscriptions. If you're not satisfied within the first week, contact us for a full refund. After 7 days, you can cancel anytime but we don't offer prorated refunds.

Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?

Yes! You can change your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately, giving you instant access to more storage. Downgrades take effect at the start of your next billing cycle. Your data is always preserved during plan changes.

Can I share my stored files with others?

Sharing features are coming soon! We're working on secure sharing options that let you share specific folders or files with family and friends. You'll have full control over who can view or download your shared content.

Is there a file size limit?

Individual files can be up to 2GB in size on all plans. This accommodates high-resolution photos, long videos, and large audio files. If you need to upload larger files, contact our support team for assistance.

Does DownTheMemory have a mobile app?

Yes! Our Android app is available on the Google Play Store. It offers the same features as our web platform, optimized for mobile use. iOS app is planned for future release. All paid plans include mobile app access at no extra cost.

How do I delete my account?

To delete your account, go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. This action is permanent and will delete all your stored data. We recommend downloading any files you want to keep before deleting your account. Account deletion typically completes within 48 hours.

Do you share personal data with third parties?

Never. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share data with trusted service providers (like our payment processor and hosting infrastructure) who help us operate the service, and they're bound by strict confidentiality agreements.

What is the difference between storage and video streaming?

Storage refers to the space your files occupy on our servers. Video streaming is a separate allocation that determines how much video content you can stream per month without additional charges. Streaming allocation is included in Standard plans and above.

How do I organize my files?

Use folders to organize your memories! Create unlimited folders and subfolders to categorize by event, year, person, or any system that works for you. You can also add titles and descriptions to individual files for easier searching.

What happens to my data if DownTheMemory shuts down?

While we have no plans to shut down, we believe in data portability. If we ever need to close the service, we will provide at least 90 days notice and give all users the opportunity to download their data. Your memories belong to you.
